WSOS can be customised to use different message lengths to suit different communications media. For secure communications (i.e. direct connect) "long" message lengths achieves the fastest communications. When communications are poor (possibly due to a weak radio reception) a "short" message length is most appropriate. This should be set up off line by selecting the "Customise Menu" then choosing "WSOS Communications" and pressing the Advanced Button.
